Dave DeHarpport (Former HBA President) and Alan DeHarpport of Four D Construction has been working with the Gary Sinise Foundation on a smart home for Retired United States Army Sergeant First Class Wade Mitcheltree.
Sgt. Mitcheltree, a Tigard resident, sustained serious injuries during a tour in Afghanistan and this smart house is specifically designed to make everyday life easier. The house was built through the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program, which by the end of 2017 will have built 62 of these types of homes for veterans across the country. Sgt. Mitcheltree’s home was recently completed and unveiled at a home dedication ceremony on August 11. HBA member Four D Construction, based in Beaverton, was the builder for the Mitcheltree home which incorporates “smart” technology designed to allow Mitcheltree or his family members to remotely control nearly all parts of the house using an Apple iPad.
It’s important to remember the good work our members are involved with throughout the region and the impact that it has in the community and with local governments.
