The HBA, and the work of its Home Performance Council (HPC), actively encourages initiatives and building practices that promote sustainability and a healthy environment. The HPC partners with the Energy Trust of Oregon, inspectors and verifiers to promote better building practices in the region, to include energy efficient, high performance homes and buildings designed and constructed to contribute to the long-term viability of our community.
The 2017 Green Builder of the Year awards were presented at the annual Earth Advantage Golf Invitational on September 7. The luncheon preceding the golf invitational provided the opportunity for the Oregon home building and multifamily development industry to recognize extraordinary achievements in energy efficient and sustainable construction practices.
This is the 6th year Earth Advantage has assembled an outside panel of judges to evaluate the entries and elect the winners. The judges represent a wide cross section of construction and real estate experience, including HBA Sustainability & Education Manager Kaitlin Torney. After examining the builder entries, as well as performance data on the homes and multifamily projects supplied by Earth Advantage’s technical department, the judges announced their awards, including HBA members Stone Bridge Homes NW, Everett Custom Homes, Noyes Development, and Habitat for Humanity Portland. Congratulations!
